Print a paper boat template with your own colours and follow the illustrated hat-to-boat folding sequence.
Preview is scaled to fit. The PDF keeps the exact dimensions.
Cut only the outer rectangle. Dashed marks are starting creases; follow the numbered diagrams for later folds.
With the plain side up, fold the rectangle in half across its short direction: top edge to bottom edge.
Keep the folded edge at the top. Mark the vertical centre and fold both top corners down to it.
Fold the lower front strip up. Turn over, fold the other strip up and tuck the projecting corners around the triangle.
Open the bottom of the hat. Bring its left and right corners together and flatten into a diamond.
Fold the bottom point of the front layer to the top. Repeat on the back.
Open the bottom again and flatten sideways into a smaller diamond.
Take the two loose top tips and gently pull them apart.
Open the hull slightly and flatten its base so the boat can stand.

The hull opens from a twice-collapsed diamond. Keep the layers loose enough to separate at the final step.
Ordinary paper absorbs water; this is a temporary paper model, not a waterproof toy.
No glue is needed for this folded boat. Tuck the protruding brim corners neatly around the triangle.
No. Keep the entire boat rectangle intact; the dashed crosswise line marks the first fold.
