Printing guide

Print at the size you intended.

The file defines the dimensions. Your printer settings decide whether those dimensions stay the same on paper.

  1. Match the paper

    Select the same format in the generator and printer: A4 (210 × 297 mm), A5 (148 × 210 mm) or US Letter (215.9 × 279.4 mm).

  2. Use actual size

Download the PDF and choose “Actual size” or 100% in the print dialog. Avoid “Fit”, “Shrink” or scaling to the printable area when physical spacing matters.

  3. Allow for printer margins

Most printers cannot print to the very edge. A 10 mm minimum margin is a useful starting point. If a border is clipped, increase the margin in the generator instead of shrinking the page.

  4. Check one sheet first

On a 5 mm square grid, ten squares should span 50 mm. Measure a test print before printing a batch. For inch grids, four quarter-inch squares should span exactly one inch.

  5. Keep the paper clean

When printing directly from the browser, turn off its headers and footers. The preview on screen is scaled and is not a physical ruler.
