Graph paper

A grid with a job to do.

Use square paper for plotting data, drawing to scale, planning a room or working through maths by hand. A 5 mm grid is a useful everyday starting point; quarter-inch squares suit projects measured in inches. Bold guide lines help you count across a larger drawing.

An exact grid, with room around it.

Grid spacing is the physical distance between neighbouring lines in the PDF. Complete squares are centered on the sheet. The margin is a minimum, so the actual border can be slightly larger to avoid partial squares. Thicker guide lines repeat from the first grid line.

A few useful answers

Will a 5 mm square really print at 5 mm?

Yes, the PDF defines 5 mm spacing. Select the matching paper size and print at 100% / Actual size. Printer scaling can change the final result; measure a test sheet first.

How do I make quarter-inch graph paper?

Use the ¼ inch preset. It sets the grid to 6.35 mm, exactly one quarter of an inch, and selects US Letter paper.

Why are the margins slightly larger than my setting?

The generator fits whole squares, then centers the grid. Your chosen margin is the minimum blank border, including the line thickness.
