The lid is larger by the stated allowance in each dimension, not on each side. Test the fit with your paper. Tab width is a maximum; short edges use narrower tabs. Dimensions are nominal, without paper-thickness compensation.

A 1.5 mm allowance adds 1.5 mm to the total lid width and length, giving 0.75 mm per side before paper thickness.

A few useful answers

Does the box depth include the lid?

No. Base depth and lid depth are independent; the lid slides over the outside walls.

When should I choose a different layout?

A shallow lid leaves more of the base visible. A deeper one covers more of the sides but needs a larger flat pattern.

What helps with cutting and assembly?

Dry-fit the corners before applying glue. Adjust the allowance after a trial, especially when moving from paper to card.
